WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Deputy Whip of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Veasey (TX-33), joined Chairman of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Thompson (CA-05) along with Rep. Spanberger (VA-07), Rep. Titus (NV-01), Rep. Sherill (NJ-11), Rep. McBath (GA-06) and advocates to demand the Senate take action to end gun violence to take up H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019, and H.R. 1112, the Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2019.

Congressman Marc Veasey released the following statement after a Fort Worth police officer was charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Atatiana Jefferson:

"No amount of justice will bring Atatiana back. Her death is a wrongful and untimely loss, and I mourn with her family and friends during this horrible time.

While this arrest is a tiny step towards progress, justice will never be fully served until our law enforcement reforms their culture of rogue policing that has lead to the frequent slaughter of members across minority communities.

WASHINGTON – Congressmen Marc Veasey (TX-33), Max Rose (NY-11) and Joe Morelle (NY-25), introduced legislation this week that would use savings from Medicare prescription drug negotiations to lower Medicare Part D costs for low-income seniors.

H.R. 4620, the More Help for Seniors Act of 2019, would raise the income limits for eligibility under the Medicare Part D low-income subsidy program, which would help low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities afford needed medications by lowering copays and premiums for Medicare Part D.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX), founder and co-chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, reintroduced a bicameral resolution with Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) to designate this month as "National Voting Rights Month". The resolution seeks to end voter suppression by bringing awareness to existing voter suppression laws, educating Americans on their rights as voters, and urging Congress to pass critical voting rights legislation.

Since March 2014, the initiative has connected Veasey with constituents at their place of employment to better understand the challenges they face in their work and daily lives.
