WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) is calling on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to expedite the release of Elmira Azizi, an Iranian Christian pastor currently detained at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, after she was granted asylum in the United States.
Azizi fled Iran after facing persecution because of her Christian faith.

Washington D.C. – This week, Congressmembers Marc Veasey, Cuellar, Casar, Castro, Crockett, Escobar, Fletcher, Garcia and Gonzales sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Secretary Collins, expressing deep concern for the CY26 Home Care Fee Schedule that will lead to devastating home care service cuts for Texas veterans.
