Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) released the following statement on the deadly mass shooting at the Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, Texas:

"I am devastated by the mass shooting in my home state of Texas that has left at least 20 people dead and injured 26 more. My heart goes out to the victims and their families that were impacted by this senseless act of violence. I am grateful for the heroic first responders that risked their lives to ensure the safety of all of those that were impacted by this tragedy.

Washington, DC – Rep. Veasey voted yesterday to pass H.R. 3375, the bipartisan Stopping Bad Robocalls Act, to bring much needed relief to Americans threatened by abusive robocall practices. Last year, an estimated 47.8 billion robocalls were placed nationwide, an increase of 17 billion calls over the previous year, which represent a rising risk to the American people as robocallers intensify their scams to defraud consumers, disrupt our health care system and more.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Representative Marc Veasey (TX-33) of the Energy and Commerce Committee joined his colleagues of the full Committee to advance eight bipartisan pieces of legislation to ensure our nation's health care is both affordable and accessible.

The package of bills included legislation to reauthorize public health and Medicare programs, improve drug pricing transparency and protect patients from surprise medical bills. Representative Veasey released the following statement after the passage by the full Committee:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed H.R. 2088, a bill introduced by Rep. Greg Stanton (AZ-09) and Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33) earlier this year, to reauthorize and increase funding for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG). This legislation provides the EECBG program with $3.5 billion annually for the next five years to provide states, local governments, and Indian tribes assistance to reduce fossil fuel emissions and conserve energy.

Washington, D.C. – Last week, Representative Marc Veasey (TX-33), spearheaded the introduction of the Fossil Energy Research and Development Act of 2019 (H.R. 3607) with Representatives David Schweikert (AZ-06), Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30), Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) and Conor Lamb (PA-17). The bill continues to reauthorize research activities in the Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and set priorities for the next generation of clean energy technologies that will help the energy industry continue to flourish in our country.

WASHINGTON, DC – The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals yesterday heard oral arguments in the Texas v. United States lawsuit—the latest effort by Republicans to strike down protections for people with pre-existing conditions as well as every last benefit and protection provided by the Affordable Care Act.
