WASHINGTON – Rep. Veasey (D-TX) introduced the Holding Accountable Russian Mercenaries (HARM) Act, bipartisan legislation that would require the Secretary of State to designate the Russian-based PMC Wagner Group as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO). Along with Veasey, Representatives Steve Cohen (D-TN), Joe Wilson (R-SC), and Richard Hudson (R-NC) are original sponsors of the bill. Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) are original sponsors of companion legislation in the U.S. Senate.

"I strongly stand with striking workers at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram fighting for fair working conditions. It is deeply troubling that the Star-Telegram has unfairly suspended the hard-earned benefits of those striking workers.
FORT WORTH - Today, Representative Marc Veasey welcomed U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia L. Fudge in Fort Worth. Representative Veasey and Secretary Fudge met with future tenants of Cowan Place, a future affordable housing community. Cowan Place is a 174-unit mixed-income, senior living community that forms Phase I of the Stop Six Choice Neighborhood Initiative that was made possible by a $345 million HUD grant investment in the neighborhood.
WASHINGTON - Congressman Veasey introduced the Cybersecurity Clinics Grant Program Act, which would create a Department of Homeland Security grant program to fund higher education-based cybersecurity at community colleges and colleges minority-serving institutions. In addition, the legislation would require the Department of Homeland Security to develop an experiential cybersecurity curriculum for grant recipients.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX), co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, introduced a bicameral resolution with Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) to recognize September as "National Voting Rights Month." The resolution will encourage voter registration in the month of September and push Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to preserve the right to vote amid Republican-led voter suppression attempts.
FORT WORTH - This week, Rep. Veasey urged the House Committee on Judiciary to hold an oversight hearing in North Texas to examine the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) handling of prisons with reports of high sexual misconduct and coverups. Veasey's letter comes in direct response to a Fort Worth Star-Telegram investigation which revealed that Fort Worth's FMC Carswell prison had the highest number of sexual abuse claims out of all U.S. women's prisons.
