Dallas, TX – On Saturday, April 16, 2016, Congressman Veasey honored Jose Resendiz, senior from Everman High School, as the winning artist to represent the Texas’ 33rd Congressional District in the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. Resendiz’ winning entry, “Rancho Alegre,” will be displayed in the halls of the U.S. Capitol for a year.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, and Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, TX-30, led 8 members of Texas’ Democratic Congressional Delegation in a letter to Speaker Paul Ryan and Congressional Appropriators urging support for emergency supplemental funding to combat the Zika virus. The Zika virus originated in Brazil in 2015 and presents an imminent public health threat to the rest of the Western hemisphere, especially for pregnant women in the affected regions.

Arlington, TX – On Friday, April 1, 2016, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, hosted DFW Metroplex students at the Bob Duncan Center in Arlington for a day-long program aimed at preparing participants to attend college, enlist in the military, or join the workforce after graduating high school.

Since its inception in 2012, DACA has allowed nearly 665,000 individuals to work in the United States without the threat of deportation. To qualify for DACA, applicants must have come to the United States before their 16th birthday and either be currently enrolled in school or have earned a high school diploma or GED. Those who have received an honorable discharge from the U.S. military are also eligible for DACA benefits. Any individual convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor is deemed ineligible for deferred action.

Arlington, TX – On Friday, April 1, 2016, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, will host his FREE annual Teen Summit and Job Fair from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Bob Duncan Center located at 2800 S. Center Street in Arlington, Texas.

The annual event will offer students the opportunity to learn about a range of resources to prepare for higher education, apply for military service, or join the workforce after graduating high school.
