Veasey introduced a resolution condemning the two horrific mass shootings in Fort Worth's Como and Polytechnic Heights neighborhoods and acknowledging the human toll of gun violence in communities nationwide. The resolution aims to spur action on the passage of common sense gun safety legislation that will help prevent gun violence and keep our communities safe.
WASHINGTON – Last week, Rep. Marc Veasey voted for bipartisan legislation that takes historic steps to combat gun violence and protect Texas communities. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act will help save lives by keeping weapons out of dangerous hands, strengthening mental health services and bolstering school safety. The first major gun violence prevention legislation passed by Congress in nearly three decades, and has now been signed into law by President Biden.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - This week, Rep. Veasey voted to protect Texas communities and save lives with strong pieces of legislation to help reduce gun violence across the nation. On Wednesday, Veasey voted for the Protecting Our Kids Act which includes common-sense gun safety measures that will crack down on illegal gun trafficking, prevent teenagers from obtaining firearms, restrict access to untraceable "ghost guns", and more.

"As a father of a child in school, I am absolutely heartbroken by the updated news that yesterday's mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, robbed at least nineteen innocent children and two teachers of their lives. These kids and their families were robbed of their lives, by a sociopath and domestic terrorist, on the eve of their summer break.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On the heels of the fatal police shooting of Texas native Atatiana Jefferson, Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) introduced two pieces of legislation that will hold law enforcement accountable and boost transparency in the investigations of law enforcement.
Congressman Marc Veasey released the following statement after a Fort Worth police officer was charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Atatiana Jefferson:
"No amount of justice will bring Atatiana back. Her death is a wrongful and untimely loss, and I mourn with her family and friends during this horrible time.
While this arrest is a tiny step towards progress, justice will never be fully served until our law enforcement reforms their culture of rogue policing that has lead to the frequent slaughter of members across minority communities.

"I am devastated by the mass shooting in my home state of Texas that has left at least 20 people dead and injured 26 more. My heart goes out to the victims and their families that were impacted by this senseless act of violence. I am grateful for the heroic first responders that risked their lives to ensure the safety of all of those that were impacted by this tragedy.
