DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Congressman Continues Promoting Healthy Living in Honor of May is Health & Fitness Month.

Earlier this month, Congressman Marc Veasey introduced a congressional resolution, H.RES 195 that recognizes May as “Health and Fitness Month.” This legislation was the Congressman’s second bill introduced in Congress and encourages Americans to lead healthy lifestyles.

DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Congressman Marc Veasey is partnering with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to help constituents in Congressional District 33 learn what specific programs are available to help promote their small businesses.

Congressman Veasey will host a small business event at the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce on July 26, from 8:30-12:00pm. The event will feature Congressman Veasey, the SBA, procurement officers and certified small business leaders.

Yesterday, Congressman Marc Veasey joined several congressional leaders for an immigration reform forum in Miami, Florida. The event, hosted by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, brought together congressional leaders on the front-line of immigration reform including, Congressman Luis Gutierrez, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, and Congressman Marc Veasey.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey spoke on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in opposition to H.R. 807, the “Full Faith and Credit Act.” Under this Republican-led “Pay China First” proposal, bondholders from China and other foreign nations would be paid first, putting payments to Americans at risk. WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey voted against H.R. 1406, the Working Families Flexibility Act. This misnamed Republican-led bill would effectively end the 40 hour work week and take away workers’ right to overtime pay by permitting employers the ability to substitute overtime pay with comp time. This bill would more accurately be called the “More Work, Less Pay Act” and represents another Republican attack on pay and benefits for middle class families when the House should be considering legislation that will create jobs and strengthen the economy.

U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, has introduced his first two bills in Congress -- one to help veterans and one to encourage healthy lifestyles. One bill, H.R. 1816, gives more assistance under the post-9/11 GI Bill to veterans seeking degrees in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The other, H.R. 195, designates May as "Health and Fitness Month," and encourages Americans to lead healthy lifestyles.

Veasey was sworn into office in January.
