WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Wednesday, March 6, Congressman Marc Veasey (Texas-33) voted in favor of important budget legislation intended to avoid a government shutdown. Rep. Veasey’s support for the Continuing Resolution demonstrates his willingness to work with Members of both parties to find a constructive path to long-term economic stability and job growth. Following today’s vote, Congressman Veasey released the following statement:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Thursday, February 28, Congressman Marc Veasey voted in favor of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). House Republicans sought to pass a version of the legislation that would have weakened current law and was opposed by over 1,300 organizations.
With Congressman Marc Veasey’s support, Congress instead approved the Senate bipartisan version that includes protections for the LGBT community, and Native American and immigrant women.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Wednesday, February 27, Congressman Marc Veasey delivered the following remarks in support of the Voting Rights Act, Section 5. Preceding oral arguments for Shelby County v. Holder, Rep. Veasey participated in a rally outside the Supreme Court and was joined by other Members of Congress, community leaders and activists.

“Good morning. I’m Congressman Marc Veasey, representing Texas’ 33rd Congressional District.
Comprehensive immigration reform must include equal rights for same-sex binational couples, Congressman Marc Veasey told Stonewall Democrats of Dallas on Tuesday night.
“Any bill we pass does not go far enough if same-sex language is not included,” Veasey said. “It absolutely has to be necessary.”
DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey released the following statement following the American Airlines-U.S. Airways merger:
“I applaud today’s merger announcement. American Airlines is a key Metroplex employer and the American Airlines-U.S. Airways merger means both companies will continue employing people in Dallas and Fort Worth. This was a deal that both management and labor worked on, and it’s a win for everyone involved.”

In November’s election, Tarrant County elected its first black representative to the U.S. Congress, Rep. Marc Veasey.
