Congressman Marc Veasey Marks First 100 Days in Office

April 12, 2013

DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Tomorrow, Saturday, Marks Key Milestone for Congressman Marc Veasey.

Tomorrow, Saturday, April 13, 2013 marks Congressman Marc Veasey’s 100th day in office. Congressman Veasey was sworn in to the U.S. House of Representatives on January 3, 2013 and represents Congressional District 33. This is a newly created congressional district that includes Dallas-Fort Worth.

“As a lifelong Dallas-Fort Worth resident, I am deeply honored to represent the 33rd Congressional District. My constituents sent me to Congress to fight for middle and low-income families and that has been my mission since day one. I will keep working hard to create jobs, make education and healthcare accessible, and ensure comprehensive immigration reform becomes a reality,” said Congressman Marc Veasey.

Among his accomplishments in the first 100 days, Congressman Veasey is most proud of his commitment to job creation and comprehensive immigration reform. With two key committee assignments on the House Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology, Congressman Veasey has worked hard to protect jobs and projects like the Joint Strike Fighter that are crucial to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He has also taken a lead on comprehensive immigration reform by marching in rallies, cosponsoring legislation like the Reuniting Families Act, and joining forces with leaders like Congressman Luis Gutierrez and United We Dream’s Julieta Garibay.

In his first 100 days, Congressman Veasey has attended over 130 meetings in the Metroplex that include neighborhood association meetings, meetings with local business leaders and key non-profit and governmental establishments. In February, the Congressman held an Open House for the two new district offices in Dallas and Fort Worth. Congressman Veasey also hosts Congress on Your Corners each month, with the first recently held at a Walmart in Fort Worth.
