WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Wednesday, March 6, Congressman Marc Veasey (Texas-33) voted in favor of important budget legislation intended to avoid a government shutdown. Rep. Veasey’s support for the Continuing Resolution demonstrates his willingness to work with Members of both parties to find a constructive path to long-term economic stability and job growth. Following today’s vote, Congressman Veasey released the following statement:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Thursday, February 28, Congressman Marc Veasey voted in favor of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). House Republicans sought to pass a version of the legislation that would have weakened current law and was opposed by over 1,300 organizations.

With Congressman Marc Veasey’s support, Congress instead approved the Senate bipartisan version that includes protections for the LGBT community, and Native American and immigrant women.

DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey released the following statement following the American Airlines-U.S. Airways merger:

“I applaud today’s merger announcement. American Airlines is a key Metroplex employer and the American Airlines-U.S. Airways merger means both companies will continue employing people in Dallas and Fort Worth. This was a deal that both management and labor worked on, and it’s a win for everyone involved.”

Congressman Veasey has a strong legacy of advancing the priorities of Latino families. Earlier this week, Congressman Veasey invited DREAMer Julieta Garibay to the President's State of the Union Address. The Congressman is also an original co-sponsor of the DREAM Act and the Reuniting Families Act in the 113th Congress.

Today, Congressman Marc Veasey’s office announced his subcommittee assignments on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. In December, Congressman Veasey was named to the powerful House Armed Services Committee.
