Today Congressman Marc Veasey voted against the Republican Ryan budget. The budget slashes critical investments in our future and hurts women, students, seniors and middle class families. Among the cuts are $98 billion for the Pell Grant program and $810 billion for Medicare. It also denies 27 million Americans access to affordable health care and drastically cuts nutrition assistance which currently serves 48 million people.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Thursday, February 28, Congressman Marc Veasey voted in favor of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). House Republicans sought to pass a version of the legislation that would have weakened current law and was opposed by over 1,300 organizations.
With Congressman Marc Veasey’s support, Congress instead approved the Senate bipartisan version that includes protections for the LGBT community, and Native American and immigrant women.
