Congressman Marc Veasey to Lead Community Walk
DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Congressman Continues Promoting Healthy Living in Honor of May is Health & Fitness Month.
Earlier this month, Congressman Marc Veasey introduced a congressional resolution, H.RES 195 that recognizes May as “Health and Fitness Month.” This legislation was the Congressman’s second bill introduced in Congress and encourages Americans to lead healthy lifestyles.
Today in America, nearly two-thirds of adults and one in three children are overweight or obese. At 30.4 percent, Texas has one of the highest obesity rates in the country. Not only do these statistics affect the health and well-being of each individual, but they also raise serious issues that must be addressed. Increases in food intake, lack of physical activity, and environments that make nutritious choices more difficult have all played a role in this obesity epidemic.
This weekend, Congressman Veasey will host and participate in the following events to promote health and fitness:
Friday, May 24th – The Century Council Ask, Listen, and Learn Program
Saturday, May 25th – Let’s Move! Community Walk in Fort Worth’s Cobb Park from 10-11:30am
