WASHINGTON, D.C. – This morning, Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) made the following statement US Airways-American Airlines merger press conference and rally which takes place in Washington today at 12:00 p.m.:

"American Airlines and US Airways joining together to form the new American is critical for the viability of both air carriers and a benefit to air passengers and the thousands of employees of both of these companies. Finalizing this deal means job security for over 24,000 Texans.”

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic shootings in Washington, D.C. this morning, just blocks from the Capitol in the Navy Yard. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. Let us keep them and our brave first responders in our thoughts and prayers as the search for suspects continues and facts become known about the sad events of this morning.”

WASHINGTON, DC -- Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33) released the following statement regarding the House vote on H.R. 2775 “No Subsidies Without Verification Act”

“Today, instead of bringing up a jobs bill, House Republicans are holding the 41st Vote to undermine and repeal the Affordable Care Act.

H.R. 2775, known as the “No Subsidies Without Verification Act,” would delay millions getting coverage, placing unworkable requirements on HHS that it has no resources to perform and which are outside its role.

ARLINGTON, TX -- Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, was joined by U.S. Reps. Joe Barton, R-Arlington, Councilman Jimmy Bennett, Bill Porter, Mayor Cluck and Arlington business owners at a press conference in support of the Marketplace Fairness Act.

The act is proposed bipartisan legislation in Congress that would allow states to collect sales and use taxes from out-of-state retailers, as well as streamline sales tax laws.
