WASHINGTON D.C. - Today, Texas Reps. Marc Veasey (TX-33) and Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) joined their colleagues on the Energy and Commerce Committee to hold a hearing to investigate the Texas power grid failures during last month's winter storm that left millions of Texans without power or heat for days. Today's hearing specifically examined the causes of the recent widespread power outages in Texas and how to fortify the electrical grid against extreme weather events and climate change.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) voted to pass H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act, and H.R. 1603, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, two landmark pieces of legislation to modernize and reform our immigration system and secure permanent protections and a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who have been, and will continue to be, key to the economic recovery of our nation. The American Dream and Promise Act provides relief to our nation's Dreamers, as well as to many Temporary Protected Status holders.

McKinley (R-W.Va.) and U.S. Senators Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-La.) introduced the "Storing CO2 and Lowering Emissions Act" known as the "SCALE" Act. The bill supports the development of infrastructure necessary to transport CO2 from where it is captured to where it can be utilized in manufacturing or safely and securely sequestered underground.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) voted for final passage of H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan Act, landmark, life-saving legislation that will provide urgently-needed resources to defeat the virus, put vaccines in people's arms, money into families' pockets, children safely back into classrooms and people back to work in Texas and across the United States. This legislation will now go to President Biden's desk for his signature.
