WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, the United State House of Representatives passed the Veasey-led "MEDIA Diversity Act"—bipartisan legislation that amends the Communications Act of 1934 to require the Federal Communications Commission to consider market entry barriers for women and minorities in the communications marketplace report under section 13 of such Act.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) and the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) have formally endorsed the Vanessa Guillén Military Justice Improvement and Increasing Prevention Act which would reform the military justice system by moving the decision to prosecute serious crimes in the military from the chain of command. Congressman Horsford is an original co-sponsor of the legislation.

WASHINGTON — This week, Congressman Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33), Joaquin Castro (TX-20), and ten members of the Texas Congressional delegation sent a letter to Attorney General Garland urging the Department of Justice to investigate unconstitutional voter suppression in Texas and monitor any voting-related legislation passed out of upcoming special session.

Veasey joined his colleagues to pass the INVEST in America Act, which includes critical funding that Veasey secured for the Fort Worth Transportation Authority and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) in North Texas. The INVEST in America Act makes transformational investments in America's highways, roads, bridges, transit, rail, and water infrastructure to create jobs, modernize our infrastructure and reduce carbon pollution. This legislation puts some of the key pieces of President Biden's infrastructure vision into legislative text.

WASHINGTON Just days before the 8th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Shelby v. Holder decision, the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus announced that Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) will serve as co-chair of the Caucus. Congresswoman Williams is a Congressional leader in the fight for voting rights and succeeds her friend, mentor and civil rights icon, Congressman John Lewis.

Veasey joined his colleagues today to pass S. 475, the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act – legislation that establishes Juneteenth as a federal holiday. "Juneteenth," observed on June 19, marks the anniversary of when federal officials arrived in Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War and slavery in the United States of America had ended.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Veasey (TX-33) applauded the bipartisan passage of the INVEST in America Act of 2021 out of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. The bill is a five-year reauthorization of surface transportation measures and includes critical funding that Rep. Veasey secured for local projects, including the Fort Worth Transportation Authority and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Congressman Marc Veasey led a letter urging Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael S. Regan to work with stakeholders in the community to review the potential public health impacts of the proposed Bosque Solutions Concrete Batch plant. Though the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has denied the permit for now, a thorough review of the project is merited to address public health concerns.
