Rep. Veasey (TX-33) on Energy and Commerce Committee Passage of Build Back Better Act

September 15, 2021

Washington, D.C. – Energy and Commerce Committee member Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33) released the following statement after the Energy and Commerce Committee passed its provisions of the Build Back Better Act:

Today, I was proud to join my colleagues on the Energy and Commerce Committee to advance the historic Build Back Better Act. With today's passage by the Committee, we are one step closer to making significant investments to American families and workers, revitalizing our economy, creating millions of new jobs, combatting climate change, and ensuring that no community is left behind.

This package secures vital resources that will expand access to health care for millions, fight the climate crisis and strengthen our public safety. I am particularly proud that this package includes priorities I helped to secure, which will close the health care coverage gap in Texas by expanding Medicaid. In addition, this package will increase funding for local energy efficiency projects, modernize our electric grid to stop dangerous grid failures from occurring, and replace lead pipes so communities here in TX-33 have access to safe and reliable drinking water.

I look forward to getting this legislation over the finish line in Congress and signed into law!
