WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Veasey (TX-33) and 33 Members of Congress sent a letter to the Nobel Prize Nomination Committee to nominate Mrs. Opal Lee of Fort Worth for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize. Lee is a native Texan who has worked for over 40 years to commemorate Juneteenth as a national holiday and has fought to ensure equality for all Americans.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) today announced that as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will invest $14 billion of funding in fiscal year 2022 for over 500 projects across 52 states and territories, including $403 million dollars for the Trinity River Vision/Central City flood control project.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33), Co-Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus (CVRC), joined Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) Congresswoman Terri Sewell (AL-07), and Congressman G.K. Butterfield (NC-01) to urge action to advance the Freedom to Vote Act and John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

In a letter sent to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the members wrote, "As champions of voting rights in congress, we write to express serious concern about the year ending without a path forward on advancing voting rights."

WASHINGTON – This weekend, after unanimously passing the House in July, Representative Marc Veasey's National Medal of Honor Monument Act unanimously passed the Senate. The legislation will now head to the White House to be signed into law by President Biden.
