Washington, D.C.– Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, was named by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to serve on the conference committee for the FY18 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill that authorizes funding for the Department of Defense for the next fiscal year. The conference committee is made up of Republicans and Democrats selected by their parties to negotiate any differences between the House and Senate versions and develop final language for NDAA FY18.
Washington, D.C. –Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement after President Trump announced via twitter that he will ban transgender men and women from serving in the military:
"As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I am appalled that the President of the United States would blatantly abandon any American who is willing to lay down their life to defend their fellow citizens."
