WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, announced seven service academy nominees from across the Metroplex to attend the United States Service Academies for the Class of 2018.

WASHINGTON, D.C. --Today, Congressman Veasey announced that Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth was awarded two defense contracts that will keep 41 thousand people, in the state of Texas, working on the production of 71 F-35 Lightning II aircrafts for the Department of Defense.

The Department of Defense formally announced, on Friday, that the next two Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) contracts, six and seven, of the Joint Strike Fighter program have been approved. The contracts are worth a combined $7.8 billion, much of which will be invested in the DFW area economy.

FORT WORTH, TX -Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) issued the following statement regarding Fort Worth-based Bell Helicopter’s announcement, on Monday, that it is laying off 290 hourly workers companywide due to federal spending cuts called the sequester.

Bell Helicopter Textron is cutting 290 jobs from its Fort Worth workforce. The layoffs are effective immediately and include hourly, salaried and management employees. Also being cut are about 85 Bell contractors…
