Rep. Veasey Named to NDAA Conference Committee

October 12, 2017

Washington, D.C.Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, was named by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi to serve on the conference committee for the FY18 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill that authorizes funding for the Department of Defense for the next fiscal year. The conference committee is made up of Republicans and Democrats selected by their parties to negotiate any differences between the House and Senate versions and develop final language for NDAA FY18. This committee is the final step for the defense policy bill before a final vote in each chamber. The bill will then be sent to the President for his signature.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be selected to serve as a conferee of the FY18 NDAA conference committee. During this period of increased global threats, I will continue to be a voice to ensure that our men and women in uniform are fully supported with the resources they need to face the national security challenges here at home and abroad. Most importantly, I look forward to working across the aisle to ensure a bipartisan solution that will ensure the safety of our nation and our allies."

With over 15 major military installations in Texas, defense and scientific research and development are key industries in Veasey's Congressional District. Rep. Veasey serves on the House Armed Services Committee and on the Tactical Air and Emerging Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee, which oversees numerous aerial platforms and weapons systems tied to his district.
