The Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC) is a nominations-based program designed to recognize the wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement of veterans of the Thirty-third Congressional District of Texas. Honorees show to be exceptional Americans on and off the battlefield.

Washington, D.C. – On Friday, May 23rd, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, presented Staff Sgt. Phillip Quintin, of Fort Worth, with a Purple Heart and other medals for his service in the U. S. Army, during the Vietnam War, and his service in the U. S. Air Force. Veasey's office helped Staff Sgt. Quintin obtain his medals by contacting the appropriate federal agencies, when Staff Sgt. Quintin had previously run into roadblocks.

It wasn't your typical Monday outside the Bataan Community Center in West Dallas. A disc jokey turned out Tejano and oldies music. Grill masters kept the burgers and hot dogs coming. Men in uniform walked about.

A gathering of 75 or so people, children to seniors, saw a presentation of the colors by the Pinkston High School ROTC. They heard an accordian player deliver the national anthem, a singer belt outAmerica the Beautiful and a band pick up a party tempo.
