Congressman Marc Veasey Statement on FY 2015 Defense Appropriations Act

June 20, 2014

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement regarding the passage of the Defense Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2015:

"I am proud to support the Defense Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2015 before the House this week. This bill ensures that we can find responsible ways to reduce costs without affecting the livelihood and readiness of the brave women and men serving our country.

The Defense bill provides our service men and women with a deserved pay raise of 1.8 percent, strengthens the health care services for troops and their families and increases the production of the vitally important F-35 Joint Strike Fighter to thirty eight aircrafts this year.

This bipartisan legislation strongly supports many other important programs, requested by President Obama, that are important to our national security and to those who have served our country with honor, bravery, and distinction.

While no bill is perfect, the House of Representatives has shown with this bill that it is capable of working together for the good of the country and I hope that spirit of working together in good faith will continue."
