Congressman Marc Veasey Statement on Passage of NDAA
The National Defense Authorization Act passed in the House of Representatives by 325-98 Vote
Washington D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, Member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement after the House passed the Fiscal Year 2015 National Defense Authorization Act:
"Today, the House of Representatives worked in a bipartisan way to approve the Howard P. 'Buck' McKeon National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2015.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, our committee had very difficult decisions to make in drafting this bill and I'm proud that we worked together to place our national security above partisan politics.
I commend Republican Chairman McKeon, Democrat Ranking Member Adam Smith and their staff for their tremendous efforts towards this goal. I'm proud that this bill will provide an important compromise on restructuring our Army and National Guard, will fully fund important programs like the Joint Strike Fighter and V-22 Osprey that protect our national security, and prevent retirement of the U2 Spy plane and the A-10 Close Air Support Aircraft.
Despite the challenges of sequestration we will see next year, this bill makes significant advancements in strengthening our national security and ensures that the servicemen and women of our military have the resources they need. I look forward to working with my colleagues to conference this bill with the Senate and have this bill signed into law for the 53rd consecutive year."
