Dallas / Fort Worth, TX - Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the Trump Administration announced their decision to terminate the highly successful Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Over 200,000 young Texans successfully applied for DACA, which gave them the opportunity to obtain a work permit, enroll in higher education, and temporary deportation relief after passing a background check and paying the associated fees:

With the heat of the day beating down on downtown Dallas, a mass of people dressed in red, white and blue packed Pearl Street in front of Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

They held up American flags and signs that read "Rise Up" and chanted in Spanish, "Sì se puede."

About 3,200 people marched Sunday, according to a tweet from the Dallas Police Department, from the cathedral to Dallas City Hall in the Mega March……

Washington, D.C. – On April 6, 2017, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, reintroduced legislation to streamline the federal financial aid application process for citizen students with immigrant parents and to protect undocumented students from discrimination if they apply to a state college or university that receives financial support from the federal government. The Trump Administration's immigration policies have evoked fear within our communities, but should not deter undocumented and first generation American students from pursuing higher education.
