With the heat of the day beating down on downtown Dallas, a mass of people dressed in red, white and blue packed Pearl Street in front of Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

They held up American flags and signs that read "Rise Up" and chanted in Spanish, "Sì se puede."

About 3,200 people marched Sunday, according to a tweet from the Dallas Police Department, from the cathedral to Dallas City Hall in the Mega March……

Washington, D.C. – On April 6, 2017, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, reintroduced legislation to streamline the federal financial aid application process for citizen students with immigrant parents and to protect undocumented students from discrimination if they apply to a state college or university that receives financial support from the federal government. The Trump Administration's immigration policies have evoked fear within our communities, but should not deter undocumented and first generation American students from pursuing higher education.

The first weeks of Donald Trump's administration saw widespread protests after the president announced a temporary ban on immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries.

Now Fort Worth Democratic Rep. Marc Veasey is bringing a family of Dallas-area Syrian refugees to Washington in a show of defiance toward the president and his proposed executive order.

Tamam Al Sharaa and Bothina Matar brought their family to the United States in 2015 after enduring the chaos in Syria, and they will attend Trump's address to a joint session of Congress as guests of Veasey on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON – Since Saturday evening, chants of "let them go," "free their grandma" and "refugees are welcome here" have loudly echoed down the hallways of Terminal D at DFW International Airport and other major airports around the country.
