Washington, D.C.—Today, Thursday, April 23, 2015, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Loretta Lynch as the Attorney General for the U.S. Department of Justice.
"Today, after more than five months, the United States Senate confirmed Loretta Lynch, the first-ever African American woman to serve as Attorney General of the United States.
FORT WORTH, TX – On Friday, April 24, 2015 Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, will be clocking in during the early morning hours to deliver beverages for the Ben E. Keith Company. As part of his ‘Marc Means Business' workday, Congressman Veasey will be delivering products to local restaurants, grocery stores, and venues throughout the city of Fort Worth and Historic Stockyards.
Remembering Jess Hay
As the finance chairman for the Democratic National Committee in the late 1970s, Jess Hay was one of the most influential Democrats in the country.
He helped raised campaign cash for former President Jimmy Carter and former Vice President Walter Mondale, as well as Texans like former Lt. Gov. Bill Hobby and former U.S. Sen. Lloyd Bentsen.
The Dallas businessman was an inspiration for emerging leaders such as Bill Clinton, who would go on to be president.
Hay died last week in Dallas at age 84.
