WASHINGTON–U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, will bring DREAMer activist Lissette Moreno as his guest to Pope Francis' speech to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 24, he announced Friday afternoon.

Moreno, under federal protection from Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), was brought to Texas as a child by her parents, and received degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Women's University under Texas' Dream Act. She testified in support of the law earlier this year.
Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, among others, put out the word last week that his office is accepting first-come, first-served requests from residents in his district for tickets to the Sept. 24 address in Washington, D.C.
Dallas, TX – On Tuesday, September 15, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, will scrub in as he joins the staff of Advantage Healthcare Systems, the Dallas location of a family owned series of healthcare centers that provide occupational and physical therapy to injured workers. Rep. Veasey will be helping behind the counter, distributing initial intake paperwork to patients, and assisting with patient physical therapy to learn firsthand what it takes to help injured workers return to the workforce.
On Sept. 23, a Senior Issues Forum from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Forest Hill Civic and Convention Center will offer workshops about not only fall prevention but also neighborhood safety, Social Security and postal fraud. WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today, Thursday, September 10, 2015, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, reintroduced H.R. 3475, the Grandparents Tax Credit, to lessen the financial burden on grandparents that serve as caregivers to their grandchildren by providing a $500 refundable tax credit. This legislation aims to alleviate the out-of-pocket costs that grandparents take on when they step up to help raise their grandchildren when their parents cannot.
