Some Texas voters are upset they are not getting face-to-face meetings with lawmakers while Congress is in recess and the lawmakers are in their home districts.

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats dominated their Republican counterparts early on in a bittersweet annual Congressional Baseball Game at Nats Park.

After seven innings, Democrats took the coveted Roll Call Trophy thanks to an 11-2 lead.

WASHINGTON — There are few things more ridiculous than the annual gathering of members of Congress who pitch, hit, run, throw and catch on the field at Nationals Park.

NORTH TEXAS (CBS11) – Republican Congressman Michael Burgess of Lewisville says after Wednesday's shooting, he is open to tighter security at his town hall meetings.

He and Democratic Congressman Marc Veasey of Fort Worth say they'll take any changes Capitol Police suggest seriously……

For now, Representative Veasey says he doesn't want to tighten security locally. "I don't plan on changing anything than what we normally do right now. We're going to continue to go out there and serve the public as we always have."

WASHINGTON, DC - For more than 100 years, the Congressional Baseball Game has been a trademark for both Democrats and Republicans in setting aside political differences and taking part in a tradition destined for unity.

Just a day before the game was to be held at Nationals Park, a gunman -- now identified as James T. Hodgkinson -- opened fire on Republican lawmakers and staff who were practicing at a baseball field Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia.

Staffers, supporters and friends do not usually wipe away tears in the stands as the national anthem is played. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi do not ordinarily unite to announce, "Play ball!"……
