WASHINGTON, DC – In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, Congressmen Marc Veasey (TX-33) and Ed Perlmutter (CO-07) wrote a letter urging the Food and Drug Administration to ensure availability of existing drugs that have shown promise to combat the spread of the Coronavirus. Specifically, the letter requests information regarding the obstacles to procurement for chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine—compounds that are both potential broad-spectrum antiviral drugs that researchers say could prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Fort Worth, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A retired Fort Worth school teacher is delighted about her chance to attend President Trump's first State of the Union address Tuesday.

WFAA-TV reports former Dunbar Middle School teacher Charmion Johnson-Polk was invited by Fort Worth Congressman and former student Marc Veasey. Johnson-Polk told the station.

"I never dreamed I would be getting up in the gallery to see or to hear a president speak."

"Ninety-five percent of the people who find out I was invited say, ‘You better go, girl.' That's an historic moment," she said. "The others say, ‘Oh, you're going to hear Trump. I don't want to hear him.'

In a rare vote that did not follow Texas delegation party lines, the U.S. House passed a measure on Thursday that will reauthorize the collection of foreign surveillance within the United States for another six years.

The legislation will extend the government's capacity to collect the correspondence of foreign targets from American cell phone and technology companies without a warrant, including when an American is involved in the conversation.

The teams begin practice with a few freshman lawmakers on their rosters and some players lost in the shuffle of the 2016 election.
