Dallas Morning: Congressional baseball game takes on new meaning after GOP practice ambush
June 14, 2017
WASHINGTON — The annual congressional baseball game does not normally start with a moment of silence.
Staffers, supporters and friends do not usually wipe away tears in the stands as the national anthem is played. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi do not ordinarily unite to announce, "Play ball!"……
Five Texans were involved in the game: Reps. Mike Conaway of Midland and Kevin Brady of The Woodlands playing for the Republicans and Rep. Marc Veasey of Fort Worth for the Democrats, plus Rep. Joe Barton of Arlington as the GOP manager and Williams as the GOP coach.
