WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Veasey yesterday voted for bipartisan legislation to protect free and fair elections, uphold the rule of law and defend the Constitution. Crafted in response to extremist attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election – including the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol – the Presidential Election Reform Act will implement several common-sense measures to safeguard Texans' votes against any future attempt to interfere with the certification of election results.

WASHINGTON –On Friday, Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33), Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus joined his House Democratic colleagues to introduce the Expanding the Voluntary Opportunities for Translations in Elections Act (Expanding the VOTE Act). This legislation supports jurisdictions in their efforts to help everyone vote, no matter their English-language proficiency.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33), Co-Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus (CVRC), joined Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) Congresswoman Terri Sewell (AL-07), and Congressman G.K. Butterfield (NC-01) to urge action to advance the Freedom to Vote Act and John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

In a letter sent to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the members wrote, "As champions of voting rights in congress, we write to express serious concern about the year ending without a path forward on advancing voting rights."

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX), founder of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, and current co-chair, introduced a bicameral resolution with Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) to designate September as "National Voting Rights Month". The resolution will encourage voter registration in the month of September and push Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to preserve the right to vote amid Republican-led voter suppression attempts.

WASHINGTON — This week, Congressman Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33), Joaquin Castro (TX-20), and ten members of the Texas Congressional delegation sent a letter to Attorney General Garland urging the Department of Justice to investigate unconstitutional voter suppression in Texas and monitor any voting-related legislation passed out of upcoming special session.

Holder decision, the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus announced that Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) will serve as co-chair of the Caucus. Congresswoman Williams is a Congressional leader in the fight for voting rights and succeeds her friend, mentor and civil rights icon, Congressman John Lewis.
