Washington, D.C. – As the House of Representatives prepares to finalize the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2017 with its Senate counterparts, Congressman Marc Veasey, member of the House Armed Services Committee, introduced two critical pieces of legislation to increase diversity among our nation’s military leadership and to expand support services access for returning service members and their families.
A Federal District Court Judge has ruled that Texas must modify its 2011 photo voter ID law to allow voters to cast a regular ballot in this year’s election after showing an alternative identification and signing a simple declaration form. In an effort to promote active citizenship, higher education, and general awareness of social and political issues facing the DFW area I, Congressman Marc Veasey, am launching the Congressional Youth Advisory Council. The Council will be comprised of students in 9th-12th grade that reside in the 33rd Congressional district.
In an effort to promote active citizenship, higher education, and general awareness of social and political issues facing the DFW area, I have created the Congressional Youth Advisory Council. The Council will be comprised of students in 9th-12th grade that reside in the 33rd Congressional district. Through panels, guest speakers, lecture, and hands-on, community engagement, students will build on their leadership skills, discover effective ways to contribute to causes that benefit the greater good, and network with like-minded students and professionals.
