Congressional Youth Advisory Council
In an effort to promote active citizenship, higher education, and general awareness of social and political issues facing the DFW area, I have created the Congressional Youth Advisory Council. The Council will be comprised of students in 9th-12th grade that reside in the 33rd Congressional district. Through panels, guest speakers, lecture, and hands-on, community engagement, students will build on their leadership skills, discover effective ways to contribute to causes that benefit the greater good, and network with like-minded students and professionals. Deadline to apply for the Fall Semester is Monday, May 1, 2017.
After participating in CYAC, students will be able to:
• Navigate through the complex and layered process of college admission
• Engage in community service endeavors without guidance
• Identify the roles of the elected officials that represent them
