As President Donald Trump continues to call for a national investigation into voter fraud, there's sharp disagreement in Texas on whether it's a widespread problem at all.

Conversely, U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, called on Trump to ask the GOP to help restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey released the following statement after President Trump made baseless claims of voter fraud in the 2016 general election:

"When the President of the United States falsely claims that the elections are ‘rigged' and ‘voter fraud occurred by the millions' but then fails to be responsible and produce an ounce of evidence to prove his claims, he undermines the basic faith Americans have in our democratic system.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, co-chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus, introduced H.R. 6494, the Postage Free Ballot Act, that will make mail-in absentee ballots free of charge for voters nationwide. Three years after the Supreme Court tasked Congress to update the 1965 Voting Rights Act, Rep. Veasey remains committed to making voting as accessible as possible for the American public.
