Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey, TX-33, will join Rep. Tony Cárdenas who has gathered more than a dozen fellow freshmen representatives Wednesday morning for a press availability, discussing the importance of passing Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

Dallas, TX – Rep. Marc Veasey, TX-33, visited the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) on Monday, November 4 to tour the facility and to discuss hunger and the potential impacts of food assistance programs due to recent food-aid funding cuts.
Earlier this month, SNAP, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, was cut by 5 percent after the 2009 Recovery Act's temporary increase in benefits expired leaving participants with just $1.40 to spend per meal. According to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, 3.5 million Texas residents receive SNAP benefits.

The NAACP Irving-Carrollton Chapter held its annual Freedom Fund luncheon Saturday at the Sheraton DFW Airport in Irving. The keynote speaker was Rep. Marc Veasey. Veasey talked about his efforts in helping change Voter ID legislation and the importance of voting. (Veasey returned to Irving Monday for a meet-and-greet at Glory House in the Heritage District.)

US Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) announced that he is cosponsoring a comprehensive immigration reform bill, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, introduced in the House, by Rep. Joe Garcia (D-FL) and other House Democrats.
This bill is designed to receive bipartisan support in the House. It contains the provisions of the commonsense, comprehensive immigration reform bill that passed the Senate in June by the bipartisan vote of 68 to 32.
