Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, and Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, TX-30, led 8 members of Texas’ Democratic Congressional Delegation in a letter to Speaker Paul Ryan and Congressional Appropriators urging support for emergency supplemental funding to combat the Zika virus. The Zika virus originated in Brazil in 2015 and presents an imminent public health threat to the rest of the Western hemisphere, especially for pregnant women in the affected regions.

More than 150 congressional Democrats have asked the Supreme Court to strike down a Texas law that restricts abortion and has closed clinics.
The lawmakers told the court, which is due to hear oral arguments in Whole Woman's Health v. Cole in March, that the law is unconstitutional. If allowed to stand, the law is likely to be copied by other states, they said in a brief released Tuesday.
