DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Today, April 9, Congressman Marc Veasey said that more needs to be done to close the wage gap that still exists between women and men. According to the National Partnership for Women and Families, Dallas-Fort Worth women are paid 85 cents for every dollar paid to men in the area, amounting to a yearly gap of $7,163 between men and women who work full time.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Thursday, February 28, Congressman Marc Veasey voted in favor of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). House Republicans sought to pass a version of the legislation that would have weakened current law and was opposed by over 1,300 organizations.
With Congressman Marc Veasey’s support, Congress instead approved the Senate bipartisan version that includes protections for the LGBT community, and Native American and immigrant women.
