The mayors of seven large U.S. cities sent a letter Wednesday to Attorney General Eric Holder, asking him to settle the Department of Justice's "ill-conceived" lawsuit that challenges the merger of American Airlines and US Airways.
Last week, Rep. Mark Veasey (D-TX) and Rep. Ed Pastor (D-AZ) and 66 of their Democratic colleagues sent a letter to President Barack Obama asking the DOJ to allow American Airlines and U.S. Airways to move forward in their merger.

In the letter, they voiced concerns about the legal challenge’s economic impact on the workers, the traveling public and the numerous communities across the country that would be negatively impacted by the DOJ’s legal challenge.

This bill is designed to receive bipartisan support in the House. It contains the provisions of the commonsense, comprehensive immigration reform bill that passed the Senate in June by the bipartisan vote of 68 to 32.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Veasey announced that, beginning yesterday, thousands of Texans will have access to affordable, quality health insurance as new online Health Insurance Marketplaces open in every state, under the provisions of the Affordable Care Act.
“Despite the GOP shutdown, this week, Health Insurance Marketplaces under the Affordable Care Act are now open nationwide. This health care law will allow my constituents looking for coverage to purchase affordable, quality health insurance through the new online Marketplace,” Rep. Veasey said.
WASHINGTON, D.C. --Today, Congressman Veasey announced that Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth was awarded two defense contracts that will keep 41 thousand people, in the state of Texas, working on the production of 71 F-35 Lightning II aircrafts for the Department of Defense.
The Department of Defense formally announced, on Friday, that the next two Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) contracts, six and seven, of the Joint Strike Fighter program have been approved. The contracts are worth a combined $7.8 billion, much of which will be invested in the DFW area economy.
