WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 3009, "Enforce the Law for Sanctuary Cities" Act, which works to undermine local law enforcement departments nationwide:
"While I fully support keeping our communities safe, this piece of legislation undermines local law enforcement‘s ability to build trust in their communities and ensure public safety as part of their defined local and state responsibilities.

U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., was in town Saturday talking about immigration and the San Francisco snafu.
"I have two daughters, two beautiful daughters, and my heart aches for this young woman whose life was snuffed out because everyone ignored the record of a career criminal," he said on a visit for neighborhood forums with U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth.
Gutierrez said the suspect should "rot in hell."
