Hellerstedt, a critical case that challenges Texas’ House Bill 2, a restrictive anti-abortion law passed in 2013,and represents the most comprehensive challenge to the Supreme Court’s historic ruling in Roe v. Wade in nearly a decade:

Slaughter and Schneiderman urge Supreme Court to uphold Roe v. Wade

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY) joined US Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Representatives Diana DeGette (D-CO), Judy Chu (D-CA), and Marc Veasey (D-TX) on Tuesday to lead a group of 155 Democrats and 2 Independents in filing an amicus brief in the case of Whole Woman’s Health v. Cole.

More than 150 congressional Democrats have asked the Supreme Court to strike down a Texas law that restricts abortion and has closed clinics.

The lawmakers told the court, which is due to hear oral arguments in Whole Woman's Health v. Cole in March, that the law is unconstitutional. If allowed to stand, the law is likely to be copied by other states, they said in a brief released Tuesday.

Texas Democrats in Congress request federal relief in Planned Parenthood fight over Medicaid

AUSTIN–Texas Democrats in Congress sent a letter to the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services this month asking that they “explore all options available at the federal level”...
