Congressman Marc Veasey

Representing the 33rd District of Texas

Veasey Statement on CBO Score for Senate Healthcare Bill

Jun 26, 2017
Press Release

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office reported that 22 million people in the U.S. would be without insurance by 2026 if the Senate Republicans’ health care replacement plan is enacted:

“No matter which why you look at it, Senate Republicans’ health care replacement is just as a bad as the version that was passed in the House last month. Today’s CBO score confirms that 22 million Americans will lose health care coverage and premiums will not significantly decrease as Republicans promised. Instead, working families will have to dedicate more of their hard earned paycheck to cover medical expenses and seniors will pay a crushing age tax. Scaling back Medicaid as Senate Republicans propose will hurt everyone including the 64% of seniors who rely on the program to cover their nursing home expenses. The sobering report from the CBO should shame Senate Republicans who are obviously willing to put the American people at risk in exchange for deep tax cuts for the extremely wealthy.”
