STATEMENT: Rep. Marc Veasey on Fiscal Year 2014 Omnibus

January 16, 2014

Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement on the Fiscal Year 2014 Consolidated Appropriations Act:

"I would like to commend the House of Representatives for putting partisanship aside and voting in to pass the Omnibus Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2014 with bipartisan support."

"While this bill is not perfect, it will successfully avert another government shutdown like the one we witnessed in October. This bill also repeals cuts to cost of living adjustments for the pensions of disabled military retirees and their survivors and provides relief from the misguided sequester."

"Creating jobs and strengthening our economy should be Congress' top priority and I'm proud that this bill will increase funding for job training under the Workforce Investment Act by $121 million from sequester levels. There is still much more work to be done for Congress this year but this bill is a solid step in the right direction." -- Rep. Marc Veasey, TX-33
