Rep. Veasey's Bipartisan Resolution Condemning the Antisemitic Terrorist Act in Colleyville, Texas Passes House of Representatives
Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Representatives Veasey (TX-33) and Van Duyne's (TX-24) bipartisan resolution condemning the recent terrorist act on the Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue in Colleyville, Texas.
"In January, Congregation Beth Israel in our North Texas community endured a heinous, preplanned terrorist attack which the perpetrator carried out with the explicit purpose of targeting Jews," said Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33). "I remain committed to doing everything I can to prevent future attacks like this one from happening because no one—no matter what religion—should have to live in a state of fear when they go to their place of worship. That is why I am proud that our bipartisan resolution passed the House of Representatives today because it will not only condemn this act of hate but bring awareness to the antisemitism plaguing our country."
On January 15, 2022, the Congregation Beth Israel experienced a terrorist act, leading to four worshipers being taken hostage for 11 hours. This resolution highlights four main points:
- Stands with the community of Colleyville, the hostages, and all those affected by Saturday's terrorist act.
- Commends the Federal, State, and local law enforcement and emergency responders who responded to Congregation Beth Israel.
- Condemns this heinous terrorist act.
- Reaffirms our commitment to combat hate, bigotry, antisemitism, and violence against Jewish Americans.
