March 10, 2022

WASHINGTON – Last night, Representative Veasey voted for a bipartisan and bicameral omnibus funding bill, which addresses many of the major challenges we face at home and abroad: from the vicious and immoral attack on Ukraine to the need to lower costs for hardworking American families. The omnibus also includes $13,527,055 in Community Project Funding Rep. Veasey previously secured for North Texas to directly address some of the most pressing needs in communities across Texas and includes billions in funding for key programs that many Texans depend on.

"Last night, I was proud to vote for the bipartisan and bicameral omnibus funding bill, which will help us address many of the major challenges we face at home and abroad," said Rep. Veasey. "I am incredibly pleased to announce that the bipartisan omnibus also includes over $13 million in Community Project Funding and billions in funding for critical programs that I know will have a profound impact on communities across Texas' 33rd District," Rep. Veasey said. "These investments support underserved areas and foster economic development, making a real difference in the lives of so many in our community. I am proud to have fought for funding that will make our community healthier, safer, stronger, and even more resilient."

Rep. Veasey championed funding for eight projects that will directly benefit residents across North Texas. These include:

- $5,000,000 for DFW Airport New Snow and Ice Removal Equipment Storage Facility
- $2,430,055 for Revitalization of the Eastside YMCA Community Center
- $3,000,000 for Transform 1012 N. Main Street
- $414,000 for City of Everman Youth Revitalization Programs
- $833,000 for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Smart Bus Technology
- $100,000 for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) project
- $900,000 for Children's Health System of Texas, Dallas, TX for children's mental health services
- $850,000 for Children's Health System of Texas, Dallas, TX for facilities and equipment

Rep. Veasey also secured billions in funding for key programs that Texans depend on. These include:

- $5.75 billion, +$65 million above FY21 enacted for HHS/HRSA, Health Centers
Includes $30 million to support school-based health centers, and $5 million to establish the Alcee L. Hastings Program for Advanced Cancer Screening in Underserved Communities.

- $1.1 billion, +$40 million above FY21 enacted for ED/Federal TRIO Programs
Funds dedicated to educational opportunity outreach programs designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds

- $748 million, +$35 million above FY21 enacted for HHS/HRSA Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant
Funds a partnership between the federal government and states with the goal of supporting the health and well-being of all mothers, children, and families.

- $199 million, +$2.5 million above FY 21 enacted for DOL/YouthBuild
Funds community-based pre-apprenticeship programs that provides job training and educational opportunities for at-risk youth ages 16-24 who have previously dropped out of high school.

- $11 billion, +$289 million above FY21 enacted for HHS/ACF Head Start & Early Head Start
Devotes more resources to early childhood education programs.

The twelve-bill government funding package will help middle-class families with the cost of living, create American jobs, supports the vulnerable, and works to help small businesses and restaurants that are key to our economic future. Taken together, the funding for TX-33 and the funding increases for critical government programs will reverse decades of disinvestment in our communities and strengthen our nation.

This legislation will be voted on by the Senate and signed into law by President Biden later this week. A detailed summary of the bill is available here.
