Veasey’s Small Business and Infrastructure Amendments included in Sweeping Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C – Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33), current member of the Energy and Commerce Committee and former member of the House Armed Service Committee released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 6395, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021:

“Today, I voted in support of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (H.R. 6395)—a sweeping bipartisan package that honors America’s values, strengthens our security and advances America’s leadership in the world.

Today’s package includes numerous provisions that I strongly support, such as my bipartisan amendment that protects critical U.S. infrastructure and American jobs by prohibiting federal airport improvement funds from being used to purchase passenger boarding bridges from companies that have violated intellectual property (IP) rights and threaten the national security of our nation. The package also includes my other bipartisan amendment that will help small businesses succeed in our economy by providing them necessary time to mature and become better equipped for success in the open marketplace.

In addition, this package contains important funding for key national security programs that are critical for the DFW Metroplex’s robust defense sector that employs many Texans in the district I represent. I urge President Trump to put politics aside and sign this bill into law. We must do all we can to provide proper resources for our troops and keep our country safe during these unprecedented times.”
