Rep. Veasey Statement on U.S. Court of Appeals decision to uphold temporary injunction

May 26, 2015

Fort Worth, TX – Today, U.S. Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit's decision to uphold the temporary injunction on the Administration's implementation of Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) and expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA):

"I am deeply disappointed with the court's decision to uphold an injunction that leaves millions of undocumented children, mothers, and fathers in fear of deportation. Let me be clear: President Obama lawfully used his executive authority to provide temporary relief for millions of law-abiding immigrants. Our efforts now should instead focus on ensuring that House Republicans move forward on comprehensive immigration reform.

Although expansion of relief may be temporarily halted, I remain undeterred in my efforts to keep the residents of the 33rd Congressional District informed on the latest immigration developments. That is why I will host two DACA/DAPA informational forums with Representative Luis Gutierrez (IL-4) on Saturday, July 18 in Fort Worth and Dallas to inform residents how to best prepare for deportation relief."
