Rep. Veasey Statement on Supreme Court Decision on Immigration Executive Actions

June 23, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the Supreme Court’s 4-4 decision on the President’s Immigration Executive Actions:

“Today’s decision from the Supreme Court’s Immigration Executive Actions on expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA), is a major blow to the millions of immigrant undocumented families who continue to live in the shadows.

President Obama has said time and time again that his executive actions only offer a temporary solution for eligible immigrants seeking deportation relief and that it is up to Congress to find a solution to fix our broken immigration system. I call on my House Republican colleagues to end their anti-immigrant rhetoric and reckless delay on immigration reform, and work with Democrats to allow a vote on comprehensive immigration reform.

Despite today’s set-back, I remain committed to fighting for immigrant families nationwide so they can come out of the shadows and live the American Dream.”
