Rep. Veasey Statement of policy on H.R. 2775 “No Subsidies Without Verification Act”

September 11, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC -- Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33) released the following statement regarding the House vote on H.R. 2775 “No Subsidies Without Verification Act”

“Today, instead of bringing up a jobs bill, House Republicans are holding the 41st Vote to undermine and repeal the Affordable Care Act.

H.R. 2775, known as the “No Subsidies Without Verification Act,” would delay millions getting coverage, placing unworkable requirements on HHS that it has no resources to perform and which are outside its role.

I am disappointed that House Republicans have, once again, chosen to go down the path of political stunts rather than engage in a substantive debate about how to create jobs and strengthen the economy for the American people.

It’s time for Republicans in Congress to stop playing politics at every turn. They should be focusing their efforts on bipartisan solutions to real problems Americans face like growing our economy, preventing a government shutdown at the end of this month, and creating a long term solution to our debt limit - not preventing uninsured Americans from obtaining health coverage.”
