Rep. Veasey’s Statement on the Passage of 2015 Omnibus Spending Bill
H.R. 83, the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, passed in the House of Representatives by 219-206 vote
Washington, D.C. —Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted 219-206 to pass the FY 2015 omnibus spending package:
"Tonight, I stood alongside many of my House Democratic colleagues in voting against the 2015 omnibus spending bill that undermines our nation's national security and threatens the economic stability of hardworking American families.
After months of a do-nothing Republican led House of Representatives, House Republicans rushed a $1.014 trillion spending package through the House that includes highly controversial provisions that slash pensions for millions of retired Americans, turn back campaign finance reforms, and undermine our national security by partially funding the Department of Homeland Security.
It is time that the House of Representatives remembers that it is a House that represents the interests of the American people not special interests."
