Rep. Veasey Repairs Military Aircraft Components during Work Day
Congressman Veasey Works with Bell Helicopter for his October ‘Marc Means Business’ Work Day
***MEDIA ADVISORY***
Fort Worth, TX – On Friday, October 30, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, will put in some elbow grease as he works alongside the UAW Local 218 team at Bell Helicopter. Veasey will be paired with the repair and overhaul team to perform sanding, patching, and abrasion strip application on a V-22 Osprey blade and also breakdown and inspect a V-22 gearbox.
"Bell Helicopter is committed to its military and commercial customers and investing in the future of rotorcraft. Today, Bell Helicopter employs over 5,000 workers in Tarrant County alone; demonstrating that a U.S. based company can keep good-paying jobs right here in North Texas while expanding its global reach. I will continue to advocate for putting an end to sequestration so we can continue to fund vital security programs and ensure that the nearly 6,000 Texas jobs that Bell Helicopter supports are not put in danger." Congressman Veasey said.
Founded in 1935, Bell Helicopter now serves as one of the largest manufacturers for a wide range of civil and military helicopters. Bell Helicopter's global workforce includes 8,000 employees, with over 5,000 in Tarrant County alone.
Since March 2014, Rep. Veasey has spent a day each month working at a job in his district to better understand the daily challenges that industries and employees face in the DFW Metroplex. He has assisted in physical therapy for injured workers at Advantage Healthcare Systems, assembled surgical packs with eye care company Alcon, and worked at a taqueria.
