Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marc Veasey, TX-33, was presented with the 2014 Member of Congress Award by the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (FAAR), for his ongoing commitment and leadership in the fight against drunk driving and underage drinking.
Darron Moffatt, Director of Communications for the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (FAAR), presents Congressman Veasey with the 2014 Member of Congress Award.
"We can't thank the Representative enough for his dedication and leadership to prevent drunk driving and underage drinking by sending a clear and consistent message that it is illegal and will not be tolerated," said Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility. "We look forward to expanding our relationship and continuing to save lives in the future with Representative Veasey."
Representative Veasey has made it a priority to prevent underage drinking for several years through various efforts, including the Ask, Listen, Learn program. In 2014, Representative Veasey engaged in public awareness efforts during Alcohol Awareness Month in April, and he demonstrated his ongoing commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles through his "May is Health and Fitness Month" events in Texas and on Capitol Hill in May. Representative Veasey's commitment to public health heightened awareness on the importance of these issues.
"I am incredibly honored to be receiving an award from an organization that is combating the same issue that I am deeply committed to solving," said Congressman Veasey. "It's important for our community, especially parents, to educate our children on the importance of how to stay safe and responsible by not giving into peer pressure."
